Zachary Miller Death, Obituary: Man killed in north Wichita bar shooting identified as 34-year-old father of two - GoFundMe

Zach Miller, a 34-year-old man, was shot and killed at the Tropics Lounge, a north Wichita bar, early Sunday morning. According to the Wichita Police Department (WPD), the incident occurred around 2 a.m. near 25th and Broadway.

Officers reported that Miller suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and lower body and was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest a disturbance on the bar’s patio led to the suspect firing three shots at Miller, causing patrons to scatter.

Miller's sister, Bre'Onna Searles, created a GoFundMe campaign on Tuesday, describing the loss of her brother as a devastating blow to their family and community. “Zach's life was brutally taken at the hands of another individual in Wichita, Kansas,” Searles wrote, highlighting her brother’s character.

Zach Miller was known as a devoted father to his children, Zai and Jett, and was cherished as a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. His roles extended beyond family, as he was also a beloved teammate and friend to many.

The WPD has identified a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting, who was taken into custody, interviewed, and subsequently released pending further review of the case by the district attorney.

Although the suspect’s name has not been disclosed, the investigation remains ongoing. Officer Ford emphasized the importance of community cooperation, urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

“This is a tragic incident that has impacted not only the family but the entire community,” Ford noted. The WPD is calling for witnesses or anyone with additional details to contact WPD investigators at (316) 267-2111 or Crime Stoppers at the same number.

The loss of Zach Miller has left a deep void, and friends, family, and community members are coming together to support his children and family during this difficult time.

The GoFundMe established by Searles is aimed at assisting with funeral expenses and supporting Miller’s two children, who now face life without their devoted father.
