The victim, identified as Lillie Carpenter from Roosevelt, New York, was driving a Toyota Camry northbound around 10:30 p.m. near the Southern State Parkway exit when the vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree, according to state police.

Carpenter, the sole occupant of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The impact of the collision was severe, and despite emergency responders' efforts, there was no survival.
