Jerry Wade, a beloved former security officer at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and SeaWorld Park passed away in a car accident in late 2024. 

Known for his kind-hearted nature and commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of those around him, Jerry was a familiar face at both popular amusement parks where he served for several years. 

His colleagues remember him not only for his professionalism but also for his friendly demeanor, making him a trusted figure among park staff and guests alike.




Jerry grew up in Seaford, Virginia, before moving to Yorktown, where he continued to live and work. A proud graduate of York High School in Yorktown, he developed strong ties to his community and maintained a close-knit circle of friends and family. 

His passion for public service and his natural inclination to care for others led him to a long career in security, where he made a positive impact wherever he worked.

Following his time at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and SeaWorld Park, Jerry transitioned to a new role at Sun Retreats New Point, where he brought the same dedication and work ethic. 

At Sun Retreats, Jerry continued to offer his services with a focus on providing a secure environment, ensuring that everyone who visited or stayed felt safe and valued. 

His experience in the security industry, paired with his warm personality, allowed him to connect with individuals from all walks of life, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of working with him.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Jerry was a committed family man and friend. Those who knew him best described him as someone who would go out of his way to help others, whether it was assisting with a difficult task or simply offering a listening ear. 

His deep connection to his roots in Seaford and Yorktown was evident in his love for his community, where he was known as a friendly and reliable neighbor. 

Jerry's sudden passing has left a significant hole in the hearts of his family, friends, and colleagues. His legacy will live on in the memories of those who had the pleasure of knowing him, and his dedication to others will continue to inspire those who follow in his footsteps. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
