A tragic shooting occurred Friday night in Rutland, Vermont, leaving one man dead and two people in custody. The victim, identified as 32-year-old Christopher Hale, was shot while standing on the porch of a home on Elm Street around 7:00 PM. In a video obtained by WCAX, a ring security camera captures Hale walking onto the porch, knocking on the door, and waiting. He knocks again, showing no signs of distress, when suddenly, multiple gunshots ring out from the street.



The video footage shows Hale collapsing, and an alleged shooter is seen running away in the background. Hale is then dragged into the house by someone inside. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, and Hale was transported to a local hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he later died from his injuries.


Following the shooting, Rutland Police quickly took two people into custody. Dylin Wainscott, a 28-year-old from Westfield, Massachusetts, has been charged with First Degree Murder and Possession of a Narcotic. Wainscott is accused of fatally shooting Hale in what authorities believe to be a targeted incident. Precious Okorie, a 38-year-old from Springfield, Massachusetts, was also arrested and charged with Conspiracy and Accessory Before the Fact. Okorie is alleged to have been involved in the planning or execution of the crime in some capacity.


Both suspects are being held without bail and are scheduled for arraignment on Monday. Law enforcement officials have assured the public that they believe the shooting was a targeted event and that there is no ongoing threat to the community.


Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the motives behind the shooting or the circumstances leading up to it. However, they have emphasized that the swift response by police led to the quick arrest of the suspects, preventing further harm.
