It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Ashley Watson, a cherished member of both Budo Dojo and the British Karate Guild (BKG).
Ashley, a dedicated karate practitioner, fell ill shortly after competing on Saturday and was immediately taken to the hospital. Despite medical intervention, he passed away in the early hours of Sunday, November 10, 2024.
Ashley’s unexpected loss has left an indelible void in the hearts of everyone who knew him. As a valued and committed member of the BKG, Ashley was known not only for his dedication to the martial art he loved but also for the camaraderie and positivity he brought to the dojo.
His passion for karate inspired those around him, from his fellow athletes to the students he supported. His presence was a source of motivation and encouragement, and his absence is being deeply felt by the BKG community.
The board, along with Ashley’s friends and colleagues, are united in mourning the loss of such a spirited individual, who gave so much to the karate community.
In response to this tragic event, the BKG Board has committed to offering all the support possible to Ashley’s family, friends, and everyone affected by his passing.
The board encourages members to come together during this time, supporting one another and drawing strength from the bonds formed through their shared love of karate.
Those who may be struggling with grief or emotional distress are encouraged to reach out to their local GP for access to NHS talking therapy services. Talking to professionals can provide solace during times of loss, and the BKG Board is eager to ensure no one navigates this challenging period alone.
The cause of Ashley’s passing is yet to be confirmed, and we respectfully urge everyone to avoid speculation. In this delicate time, it is essential to give Ashley’s family the space they need to grieve privately and to focus on honoring his memory in a manner befitting his life and contributions.
Our deepest condolences go out to Ashley’s family and friends. We share in your sorrow and extend our support and prayers. We wish you strength, courage, and peace as you journey through this incredibly difficult time. Ashley’s legacy of dedication, kindness, and resilience will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
