Trevyn Mackey Death, Obituary: Trevyn Mackey, 17, Defensive End For Clovis West Dies After Accident In Fresno

On November 22, 17-year-old Trevyn Mackey, a standout athlete at Clovis West High School in Fresno, CA, suffered severe injuries in a car accident and was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit at Fresno Community Regional Medical Center (CRMC).

The tragedy has sent shockwaves through his community, as friends, family, and teammates rally together to support him during this critical time. Trevyn is not only an exceptional student but also a dedicated football player known for his strength, skill, and tenacity on the field.

Standing 6’1” and weighing 225 pounds, he plays as a guard (G) and defensive end (DE) for the Clovis West Varsity Football team. Currently in his junior year, he is part of the Class of 2026 and has previously showcased his talent on the Junior Varsity team.

Trevyn’s work ethic, determination, and ability to perform under pressure have earned him recognition as a key player for his school’s football program. Despite his young age, Trevyn’s connections to the football world run deep.

He is the grandson of the late Dan Brown, a renowned football coach who served as the Defensive Coordinator at Fresno State before his passing in 2009.

Dan Brown had an illustrious career, including playing football at Mount San Jacinto College and Boise State University, where he was part of the 1980 Division 1AA National Championship team.

Brown’s influence continues to resonate through his family, with Trevyn’s uncles (Larry, Eric, Travis, and Jordan) serving as football coaches at Clovis West and Kastner Intermediate. Trevyn’s mother, Tara Mackey, is also deeply embedded in the community as a teacher at Lincoln Elementary.

The road to recovery for Trevyn will be long and challenging, placing significant emotional and financial strain on his family. To alleviate some of this burden, a GoFundMe page has been established, allowing the community to contribute toward covering medical bills and other essential expenses.

Every donation provides vital support as Trevyn’s parents, Tara and Scott Mackey, remain steadfastly by his side during this trying time. Support for Trevyn extends beyond his immediate family. Nicholas Huerta, a close family friend, has expressed admiration for the Mackey family’s strength and resilience.

Similarly, Stacey Tafoya, a Program Specialist at Clovis Unified School District, has urged the Clovis West family to unite under the rallying cry “Trev is the fighter,” encouraging prayers and messages of love, strength, and healing.

The Clovis West community has a long tradition of supporting its members in times of need, and Trevyn’s case is no exception. With a legacy of excellence both on and off the field, he holds a special place in the hearts of those who know him.

As he embarks on the fight of his life, the collective prayers and generosity of his community will be vital in helping him recover and return to the vibrant life he has always embraced.
