A man is fighting for his life in a critical condition after suffering a heart attack during a violent altercation on Westminster Bridge in central London, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 10:45 GMT following reports of a disturbance. Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and an air ambulance crew responded swiftly, rushing the man to the hospital for urgent medical attention.
Initial reports suggested the man might have been stabbed during the incident. However, the Met Police later confirmed that further investigations had ruled out a stabbing. Instead, they revealed that officers are now working to understand the events that led to the man experiencing a cardiac arrest amid the commotion.
The violent altercation resulted in four arrests. Three individuals have been detained on suspicion of attempted murder, while another was arrested on suspicion of affray. In addition, two of the arrested suspects sustained head injuries during the incident and have been transported to the hospital for treatment.
Westminster Bridge, a major London landmark and thoroughfare, was shut down for several hours as police conducted a detailed forensic investigation.
